    2. 1.5 or 2 mm leather (Good quality is preferred)

    4. Beading thread -  Fireline, OneG or any size D thread

    5. Beading needle

    6. Glue - Fast drying is preferred

    SJBS Annual Bead Retreat

     – 

    Join us for a weekend of fun and beading at historic Pendle Hill (45 minutes outside of Philly in Wallingford PA)

    The projects:

    Crystal Carousel Necklace

    Crystal Carousel Necklace features a round structure with 3 pear shaped stones creating the walls and a rivoli at the base. The neck chain is a long twisted Ndebele rope that does not require a clasp. The structure is embellished with 2mm round crystals—much like the lights on a carousel. The length of the pendant piece is just over an inch and the diameter is just under an inch. The necklace is light in weight, making it easy to wear.Color possibilities are endless!

    Stitches include: Peyote, Ndebele, Twisted Ndebele and Right angle weave.

    Skill level: Intermediate

    Plalais Earrings

    Palais Earrings feature Swarovski fancy pear shaped stones entrapped in Japanese seed beads with crystal embellishments. Peyote and right angle weave are used in the construction of these stunning earrings. Wear them dressy or casual.


    Intermediate level project.

    Trabucco Canyon Cuff Bracelet

    Features rivolis entrapped in seed beads within hexagon shaped beadwork. The rivoli settings surround the wrist. The unique clasp can be worn on top as a focus. Techniques include, peyote, Ndebele, brick and square stitches. 

    Intermediate level.

    Every 3rd Thursday of the month, from 6:00pm to 7:30pm, our members volunteer by traveling to this wonderful children's house located in the business and college districts of secure, downtown Camden. We have the opportunity to give hope, laughter, and inspiration to many sick persons by teaching and making beading projects with them and their relatives.

    This chapter of the Ronald McDonald house is located adjacent to Cooper Hospital and has a secure, well-lit, fenced in parking lot. It is in one of the safest areas of the city, being located in the heart of the downtown area near the Rutgers University, Camden Community College, and Rowan University Camden campuses. Just a few miles from the Ben Franklin bridge, this area is also regularly policed so volunteers will have no problems coming into and leaving the city in conjunction with their volunteer activities.

    Beads of Courage Fundraiser   

    Beading Guide: Johanna Zitto, SJBS Programs Co-Chair

    Project: Netted Bead Ornament Cover

    Event Description: Come bead along with us to raise funds for Beads of Courage, a 501©(3) non-profit.

    All net proceeds go directly to Beads of Courage to help children coping with serious illness record and describe their courageous healing journey. More info:/www.beadsofcourage.org.


    Kits: Participants will receive two hollow glass unadorned ornaments and a gift box (a $5 value.)*



    The ornaments pictured are decorated with Jill Wiseman's Starry Night Ornament Cover pattern, which will also be provided, and is easily adaptable to multiple size ornament balls.

    * Ornament ball sizes vary between approximately 2.5 to 3.5 inches in diameter. Gift boxes also vary.

    Supply List: Supplies to bring for Starry Night Ornament Cover:

    Main color, size 11 seed beads -- 12 grams

    Cross-over beads, size 8 seed beads -- 14 grams

    3 or 4mm Firepolish or crystal bicones -- 50 or more

    Size 10, 11, or 12 beading needle

    Thread of choice (e.g. 6 lb. Fireline or One-G)

    Limited to 20 Participants

    Fee: $15 ($10 of which is eligible for tax purposes.)

    Bio: Hannah Rosner of Good River Gallery is a multi award winning jewelry designer, lampwork artist and instructor currently based in Oregon. Hannah has taught college level multimedia and design at the Art Institute of Pittsburgh and the Illinois Institute of Art; beadwork and fine arts at the Pittsburgh Center for the Arts; and travels extensively teaching her designs at bead shows, bead shops, and bead and flamework societies. Her work typically combines various techniques, textures and shapes.     Description: Students will combine bead embroidery, herringbone and peyote stitches to create a striking and unique piece!  Learn how to set a burl cabochon in beadwork, and embellish it with 3-dimensional elements and crystal bling!

    Techniques can customize this focal into a pendant, brooch, or bracelet with either a hard or soft base.

    Level: Intermediate - comfortable with bead embroidery, herringbone and peyote stitches.

    Kits: $55 (Colorways: silver, gold, copper, possibly purple/green) Fireline is not part of kit

    Techniques can customize this piece into a pendant or an ornament.
