Every 3rd Thursday of the month, from 6:00pm to 7:30pm, our members volunteer by traveling to this wonderful children's house located in the business and college districts of secure, downtown Camden. We have the opportunity to give hope, laughter, and inspiration to many sick persons by teaching and making beading projects with them and their relatives.

This chapter of the Ronald McDonald house is located adjacent to Cooper Hospital and has a secure, well-lit, fenced in parking lot. It is in one of the safest areas of the city, being located in the heart of the downtown area near the Rutgers University, Camden Community College, and Rowan University Camden campuses. Just a few miles from the Ben Franklin bridge, this area is also regularly policed so volunteers will have no problems coming into and leaving the city in conjunction with their volunteer activities.

Local Spot Light with SJBS Co-President Nicki Russo

    Blossoming Rivoli Necklace and Earrings

About the instructor: Nicki Russo is a native of southern New Jersey. Being raised by crafty, talented parents, her childhood was filled with learning all types of hand crafts. In the mid ‘90s, she rediscovered bead stringing and wirework jewelry. Within a few years began bead weaving and bead embroidery. After several years of traveling across the country to attend workshops and retreats with the masters, she began to create her own designs.

Description:  Create this lovely necklace and earring set using Swarovski 27 mm and 14 mm rivolis. Rivolis are bezeled with peyote stitch, then surrounded by Dragon Scale beads. The leaves curl and ruffle, making each one unique. The necklace is done with chenille stitch and is finished with a matching toggle and ring.

You will learn to bezel using tubular peyote and to cover the back in netting. You’ll also learn stitch in-the-ditch and netting for petals, brick and chenille for the rope, and prismatic right-angle weave-3 for the clasp.

Kit Cost: $56 / per kit + tax

    During the local spotlight, SJBS members will receive a 20% discount on kits (SJBS member cost: $56 - 20% = 44.80 + 2.97 = $47.77)

    Six colorways to choose: https://www.madison-made.com/blossoming-rivoli
