Traditional Anatolian Lace "Oya" Demonstration

The SJBS is excited to have new vendor member, Ylvia Asal, as our guest speaker.
Ms. Asal is a multi-disciplinary teaching artist who works
with a wide array of media: sculpture with clay, wax and
fabric (soft sculpture), painting, and textile art such as lace
making and working with fabric and yarn. Her greatest
passion is ‘making lace’, called Oya, which is a centuries old
Turkish technique of creating handmade lace.
Her studio, located at 35 Kings Highway East in Haddonfield, offers an impressive array of traditional and contemporary fiber arts. She also offers classes in various art media
such as crochet, hand embroidery, mixed media collage, lace making and many more.
